1. Tax Assessor (Salary Range $85,000-100,000+) 

Salary shall be commensurate with experience.

Lower Township is seeking a highly organized individual to assume the full time (35 hours/week) position of the Tax Assessor to perform duties and responsibilities as required by applicable statues of the State of New Jersey and regulations of appropriate officials of the State of New Jersey and the Township of Lower. Lower Township has 16,000-line items and utilizes the BRT Power Cama System. The ideal candidate shall be collaborative, responsible, dependable and have a strong motivation to undertake challenging work.


Candidates must possess a current NJ Tax Assessor’s certification and valid NJ driver’s license.

Candidates must have experience in assessing or appraising residential, commercial, and/ or real property.

Employment contingent upon satisfactory background check.


As the Lower Township Tax Assessor, your duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following: the maintenance of property assessments, defense of tax appeals, maintenance of tax maps, property inspections and supervision of administrative staff commensurate with experience. Inspecting new construction and major improvements to existing structures to determine values when necessary. Preparing the tax list and duplicate as required by law. Processing deeds to maintain and accurately update all ownership change of real property. Maintaining up-to-date Added and Omitted Assessment records. Filing of the Added Assessment List. Performing other duties, as required to ensure efficient operations of the department.

2. Temporary Lead Evaluation Inspector: 

Lower Township is seeking an individual who has the credentials and qualifications to conduct lead inspections; to sample for the presence of lead in paint, dust, soil, and water; and to conduct final clearance evaluations and compliance investigations. Construction employees are often required to work in all kinds of weather or buildings without heating or air conditioning.

Individuals must have 1 year of experience in related field and have completed the required training by the NJ Department of Health (NJDOH). Any training and certifications in this field will be obtained upon acceptance of the position. Individuals must possess a valid NJ drivers license.
